Altamont students showcase RISE leadership projects to Lammersville board

Altamont Elementary students visited the Lammersville Unified School District board on Feb. 19 to present projects from RISE, a student leadership elective that splits into committees for entrepreneurship, mental health and mentorship.
Student Jayesh Sharapur, representing the entrepreneurship committee, described small-business projects and fundraising efforts and said the group aims to build real-world skills. “The end goal of our group is to prepare its members for entrepreneurial leadership in the future,” Sharapur said. Student Callie Davis, speaking for the mental-health committee, said the group organizes awareness events and peer-support initiatives.
Trustees asked logistical questions about meeting times and outreach to students not enrolled in the class; presenters said committees meet during class time three mornings a week and use posters and school newsletters to recruit. Chair recognized the presentation as organized and encouraged board members and community partners to attend competitions or judge DECA-style case studies.
The presentation wrapped with trustees commending the students’ planning and invitations to return after their upcoming state and national competitions.
