Board hears transportation and maintenance updates; students and staff honored
Summary
Trustees heard operational reports on transportation, HVAC maintenance and campus assessment results. The board honored College Board National Recognition students and ROAR award recipients including Pieda Flores and Trey Young.
Directors and principals presented operational and academic reports during the Oct. 20 meeting. Robert Hunter, Director of Transportation, reported on bus routes, approximate daily ridership and miles, staffing for drivers, monitors and mechanics, and discussed future budget needs for bus and white‑fleet replacement cycles. Cody Dudley, Director of Maintenance, outlined completed and ongoing HVAC repairs and replacements across campuses.
Campus principals presented assessment results showing student growth in reading and math at multiple campuses. Assistant Superintendent Tiffany Whitsel recognized Rockdale High School students named to the College Board’s 2025 National Recognition Program (Destinee Bluford, Alex Cooper, Jesus Luna Herrera, Hannah McKie, Steven Mora, Eduardo Rivera and Zaniya Stewart). ROAR award nominations praised staff members including Pieda Flores—"Miss Pie is the heart of our Tiger Learning Center!"—and Trey Young for contributions to student learning and school culture.
