Chairman Crawford explained that House Bill 162 addresses a local technical issue in his district: it would allow an entity that used an incorrect formula for property tax to be repaid by the county or city (or the city to repay the entity), clarifying the mechanism for correcting past calculation errors.
"What this bill does is it allows payment back to an entity within my area that was using an incorrect formula for property tax," Chairman Crawford said as he asked the committee to approve amendment 14886 and move the bill. After no substantive questions from members, the committee voted 20–0 to send HB 162 to Finance, Ways and Means.
