The Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation board considered a set of policy updates on Aug. 10 and approved them after debate and procedural motions. Board members asked to table four specific policy items so absent member Logan Schultz could participate; that motion failed 2–4. Members then agreed to separate F101 (a budget policy) for its own vote.
After discussion, the board voted to approve F101 as presented by administration by a 5–1 roll call vote. One board member said he intended to vote no on F101 unless the administration added additional language requiring account‑level review, but the motion passed. The board then voted to approve the remaining policy items (A200, A275, A300, C175, C525, F100, F125, G325, H125 and H150) by a 6–0 roll call vote.
During debate members emphasized that policies sent to the board had been posted for public review and discussed in prior work sessions; administration said the package reflected internal reviews and some edits based on board input. One policy change noted was an addition to the student food-service process to avoid identifying students receiving free or reduced‑price lunch at the point of sale. Another new item clarified internal controls and the distribution of audit reports to board members.
Board members who supported approval said policies can be amended in the future if substantive concerns are raised; a dissenting member pressed for further account‑level budget transparency in the budget policy vote. The administration said it would continue to accept feedback and reopen policies if necessary.
