District outlines state and local assessments, notes waivers rarely reduce DPI report-card points

Kristen Dixon walked the board through the district's testing landscape, distinguishing state-required exams from locally administered diagnostics. "The 1st 3 on that list are our state level assessments," she said, listing the Forward Exam (grades 3-8), preACT (grades 9-10), and the ACT with writing (11th grade), and noting NAEP participation is occasional and school-specific.
Dixon also outlined district assessments used for diagnostic and instructional purposes: Progress Learning (high school), i-Ready (grades 2-8), AIMSweb Plus (literacy screener for pre-K through grade 3), and FastBridge for early math. She said the DLM alternate assessment is used by fewer than 1% of students who qualify. The superintendent clarified that while families may request waivers, the district has not been penalized by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) for excessive waivers to date. Board members asked follow-up questions about waiver thresholds and student participation rates.
