The board voted to approve a memorandum of understanding between Southampton County Public Schools and the Southampton County Sheriff's Office that clarifies the roles and responsibilities of school resource officers, strengthens communication and supports cooperative crisis response and threat assessment.
"The MOU establishes clear roles and responsibilities for our school resource officers, strengthens communication and coordination, and supports collaborative efforts in school safety, crisis response, threat assessment, and crime prevention," Superintendent Dr. Thompson said while presenting the agreement. The motion to approve the MOU was recorded as moved by Mr. Grizzard and seconded by Mr. Williams; the board carried the motion by voice vote.
