Police chief reports rise in call volume, assistance to DEA task force

Chief Brantley told the council the department saw an increase in call volume this last month, reporting 461 calls compared with 313 the previous month and noting multiple traffic arrests including a DWI.
"We helped out the DEA task force…we helped them bring one person into custody and a firearm here out of town," Chief Brantley said. He also described lower-severity code-compliance issues that were resolved, eight animal-control calls for service and two animals impounded last month.
Council thanked the chief for the update; no action was taken on the report aside from acceptance into the council packet.
