The council interviewed multiple candidates for vacancies on the Public Works and Transportation Commission and the Senior Advisory Committee and confirmed appointments during the July 8 meeting.
For the Public Works and Transportation Commission, applicants Elizabeth Pulido, Uhila (Wuhila) Makoni and Roderick Sims each offered brief statements about qualifications and experience in infrastructure, transit and community engagement. The council voted to appoint Elizabeth Pulido and Roderick Sims to regular seats and selected Uhila Makoni as the alternate.
For the Senior Advisory Committee the council interviewed multiple applicants (including Suyun Li, Paris Sims Hill, Ruth Kossi and others) and appointed five residents to available seats. Public commenters urged the council to ensure advisory members receive training equivalent to other advisory bodies and to increase visibility and resources for seniors.
Council members thanked applicants and encouraged continued community participation in advisory roles.
