Staff led a line‑by‑line briefing of the Capital Improvement Program requests and recommendations. Kate Ward and transportation and public‑lands staff reviewed projects spanning street reconstruction, traffic‑signal upgrades, overlays, urban trails, park restroom replacement, Jordan River sewer and stormwater work, Vision Zero corridors, ADA compliance in parks and sidewalks, safe routes to schools, and constituent sidewalk and crossing requests. Staff said the CIP packet contained 76 applications, with total asks of more than $58,000,000 and about $34,900,000 available to allocate.
Council members raised follow‑up questions about project prioritization, possible matching funds (county, federal grants such as Safe Streets for All), coordination with CRA/RDA projects to avoid rework, and whether constituent requests might duplicate department priorities. Staff committed to follow up on specific items, provide additional cost breakdowns, and coordinate schedules so funded projects can realize economies of scale when contracting.
