State board approves $68,513 in incentive pay for certified assessors

The Tennessee State Board of Equalization voted unanimously to recognize assessor certifications and to authorize $68,513 in incentive compensation for certified county and state assessors, staff said during an Aug. 10 meeting.
Brian Kinsey, director of the Comptroller’s Division of Property Assessments, presented a list of state and county employees who met requirements for Tennessee certified and master assessor credentials and asked the board to recognize their certifications.
Kinsey told the board the agency calculated incentive payments—pro rated for mid‑year hires—totaling "$68,513 that goes toward, incentivizing the professional development of assessors and deputy assessors across the state." The chair moved to approve the recognitions and the accompanying resolution authorizing additional compensation; the motion was seconded and adopted by roll call with all members voting "Aye."
