Bowers said shifting administration to Urban Development avoids the council creating a standalone grant program and leverages the department's experience in procurement, eligibility verification and reporting: "Urban development made sense, because of their, work with livable neighborhoods and, you know, administering, requirements for grants and financial management and data analysis and information and communication." There were no further questions from council members on the item during this meeting.
No formal vote was taken on the proposal; the council scheduled a final vote on outstanding budget changes for Monday, Aug. 17 at 1 p.m.
