Committee approves RTS transportation contract for senior errands; out-of-county-trip authorization withdrawn

Aging and Youth Director Amy Haskins presented the department’s budget report and several transmittals to the Human Services Committee on June 1. The committee approved an authorization to enter into a contract with RTS for transportation services for seniors to Lunch Club 60 locations and nearby errands by a recorded vote of 4-0.

Haskins also brought forward a proposed authorization to complete client-related trips out of county without prior travel authorization forms; after consulting with the County Auditor, Interim County Administrator Mark Humbert informed the committee that the resolution was determined to be unnecessary and may therefore be withdrawn.
The RTS contract is intended to support senior mobility and attendance at congregate meal sites; the committee did not attach additional conditions in the meeting minutes. The out-of-county-travel authorization will not proceed unless the auditor’s office or staff reintroduce a revised resolution.
