Northern Michigan Children’s Assessment Center reports increased local caseload, fundraising drive

Rebecca Yunker, executive director of the Northern Michigan Children’s Assessment Center, told the board the center provided 47 forensic interviews, 263 family advocacy sessions, 121 mental health sessions and four non-acute medicals for Crawford County residents in 2024–25. She said that represented a 12% increase from the previous year and that Crawford County use was 57% higher than the state average.
Yunker updated the board on the center’s building campaign and construction plans and introduced the center’s new support dog, Elosie, who “is currently training and doing great.” Commissioners did not vote on funding at this meeting but received the update for planning and budget considerations.
