FinCom hears multiple facilities repair requests, flags propane smell at ESF

Facilities Manager Erik Blake presented several facility-related warrant articles and raised operational concerns. Requests included $26,000 to finish Senior Center function room painting, about $30,000 for internal wall and door repair and bay airflow improvements at the Emergency Services Facility (ESF), $40,000 to repair the historic Katharine Cornell building (internal walls, painting, boiler controls), and $40,000 for Police Station repairs related to water intrusion and structural wear.
Blake reported a propane gas smell detected in the ESF conference room kitchen and said the ESF living quarters need $65,000 for heat-pump installations to stabilize heating, with the old boiler retained as backup. He also noted the Town missed the Green Communities annual report deadline and would not receive those funds this year. FinCom asked staff to check the ESF propane issue and to pursue available grants for heating improvements.
