Committee creates $50,000 capital reserve for Parks Department building equipment replacement

On June 22 the Physical Services Committee approved a $50,000 supplemental appropriation (bonding) to establish a building equipment replacement reserve for county parks facilities. The motion, moved by Matthew Turnbull and seconded by Matthew Fascaldi, passed unanimously and was described by Parks Department leadership as a flexible reserve for urgent equipment failures.
Travis Ewald said the fund is intended to allow staff to respond quickly to failures such as heating or cooling systems without delaying repairs while seeking project-specific appropriations. The committee recorded the motion as carried and will create a new capital project under the 2026 Capital Plan (Proposed Project No. 123).
