Trustees forward CherryVale Mall Area Business District plan and proposed business district taxes for first reading
Summary
Trustees voted to send an ordinance establishing the CherryVale Mall Area Business District and a companion ordinance imposing business district taxes in that area to the Village Board for first reading.
At the August 25 Committee of the Whole meeting, Trustee Mike Neville moved to send to the Village Board for first reading an ordinance establishing the CherryVale Mall Area Business District and approving the area plan; Trustee Sally Hollembeak seconded and the motion passed by voice vote.
In the same motion set, trustees also forwarded an ordinance that would impose certain business district taxes within the CherryVale Mall Area Business District; that ordinance likewise was sent to the Village Board for first reading. Both measures were advanced together and will appear on a future Village Board agenda for formal first reading and public consideration.
The motions do not set tax rates or implementation dates at this meeting; staff and the Village Board will review ordinance language and any required notices or hearings prior to final adoption.
