SC State University brings 21 international graduate students to meet county council; intern introduced

At the July 20 meeting, Dr. Matthew Waritay Guah, dean of the College of Business and Information Systems at South Carolina State University, introduced 21 international graduate students from Africa who are pursuing doctoral or business-administration degrees in fields such as accounting, finance and strategic management. Timothy Okech, dean of the School of Business at the United States International University, Africa, thanked council on behalf of his institution.
Ty Davenport, executive director of the Orangeburg County Development Commission (OCDC), introduced his summer intern, Alissa Davis Hudson, a senior at South Carolina State University and chapter president of the National Society of Black Engineers. Hudson addressed council, saying she has been "doing some data collection for them and just kind of putting their books together again" and that she is "also putting some site plans for some of the industrial parks that we have here in Orangeburg County."
The presentation highlighted county-university and international academic ties and showcased student involvement in local economic-development work.
