Public Works Supervisor Jim Bowles told the Village Board that a recent emergency water-system repair — a 20-foot excavation — was finished much faster than expected, preventing a prolonged water outage during peak summer demand. "A major emergency water system repair involving a 20-foot excavation was completed much faster than originally expected, avoiding a prolonged water outage during peak summer demand," Bowles reported to the board.
Bowles also updated the board on the village water meter replacement program, reporting over 100 appointments completed in the first week and roughly 164 appointments the following week; additional reminder notices are being sent to residents. The staff update noted the village uses a seasonal sewer credit and that water and sewer rates are influenced in part by fees from the Fox Lake wastewater system.
