The Finance Committee discussed contingency plans in case a proposed levy fails in November, including the possibility of reducing the district to two schools and reallocating remaining levy funds over two years.
Director of Finance Kendra Salesky told the committee that "many individuals do not want to do another Levy ballot question in November," and that if voters reject a levy the district would have to consider consolidating schools and increasing class sizes while adding para-professional and support staff expenses to maintain safety and education quality. Superintendent Spacek said the AdTeam would meet to "crunch numbers" ahead of the May 21 board meeting.
The discussion made clear that while consolidation could reduce operating sites, it would not eliminate personnel costs needed to support larger class sizes and student safety.
