Trustee Dan Nelson told the Ladd Village Board on July 13 that residents should be alert after a Ring camera captured a late-night incident in which people attempted to open vehicles. Nelson said the camera recorded "a girl pulling on vehicle door handles and 3 guys watching the girl to see if she got in" at about 1:30 a.m., and he suggested that residents check footage between 1 and 3 a.m. to help identify suspects.
Nelson raised the incident during the meeting to prompt awareness and possible camera checks; the board discussed reviewing cameras and local awareness but did not record any formal directive to law enforcement in the minutes. The comment was recorded as an announcement rather than a formal action.
