Resident asks Ladd to reimburse $1,200 tree trimming and assume maintenance of sycamores

Resident Stephanie Grivetti told the Ladd Village Board on July 13 that she wants the Village to assume responsibility for two large sycamore trees located on the public right-of-way outside her home and to reimburse her $1,200 paid to Shearer Tree Service. Grivetti said she has paid roughly $8,000 over several years for tree maintenance and raised safety concerns about sidewalk displacement and falling branches that she says have caused neighbors to avoid walking on the block.
"She does not want the trees removed, noting that she is a conservationist and wishes to preserve them," Grivetti said, while urging the Village to provide ongoing trimming and removal of fallen branches and bark. Trustee discussion focused on options to preserve the trees while improving pedestrian safety, including replacing the damaged sidewalk with a curved path around roots. Board members asked Grivetti to appear at a meeting before hiring another tree company so the council can determine whether and how to assist with costs. Trustee Brad Nicholson suggested the resident be asked to submit paid receipts if reimbursement is approved.
