Highway superintendent reports winter prep, equipment repairs and approved sale of 1993 GMC

Highway Superintendent Mike Croft briefed the Town Board on recent road repairs and winter preparations at the Oct. 14 meeting. Croft reported shoulder repairs on Cass Road, Frost Hill, and Fitzpatrick Hill Road, striping on Cotton Hanlon Road and Dug Road, and that a second round of roadside mowing should finish by the end of October. He said the Smith spreader was serviced, plow wings were brought inside, and the water truck was winterized.
Croft described equipment status and auction activity: a 2019 F-550 is at Fleetpride for wiring and battery work; Croft was the high bidder on a 2018 Chevy 3500 at $38,300 (plus a 10% buyer's fee for a total of $42,130.00) and the truck was picked up and made ready for winter. The board also authorized Superintendent Croft to accept the high bid of $7,800 on the 1993 GMC (Resolution #48). Croft reported the 2016 Western Star was taken to Peterbilt in Owego for transmission/PTO service; the 2011 Volvo had a high bid of $29,900 and the town countered at $50,000 with no response.
