Town Board authorizes bid up to $45,000 on used 2018 Chevy 3500HD to replace failed dump truck

The authorization followed a detailed highway report from Superintendent Mike Croft that said the town’s 2008 GMC 1‑ton dump is stuck in fourth gear and has a rotted frame that will not pass New York State inspection, leaving the Town without a functional 1‑ton dump truck. Croft told the board the 2019 Ford F‑550 is at Fleetpride undergoing wiring‑harness work but is not available as an immediate replacement. Croft had identified a 2018 Chevy 3500HD posted on Auctions International and sought permission to bid and, if needed, extend the auction closing date.
The motion was made by Councilperson Breana Yessman and seconded by Councilperson Brian Stamp. The minutes record the formal motion language: "RESOLVED that Superintendent Croft is permitted to bid on Auctions Internation on the 2018 Chevy 3500HD 1-ton Dump Truck with Plow and Sander up to $40,000.00." The board’s unanimous vote was recorded as Ayes – 5, Noes – 0. The superintendent may proceed to place bids within the adopted cap and return to the board for any purchase that approaches the maximum.
