A staff member presented the proposed Budget Amendment No. 1 for fiscal year 2627 and walked through line-item adjustments and transfers. Key changes identified included a $19,600 increase for health insurance; three noncash public-health adjustments approved by the board of health; a $1,000 donation fund allocation; $30,000 from a county betterment to support a City of New Hampton/Waterloo project; $72,000 for secondary-roads patching from the infrastructure account and $11,000 from the secondary-roads fund for supply and installation; and a $10,000 sheriff grant intended for community-action purposes to be spent on police supplies.
The staff member also explained a proposed transfer directing remaining DARE fund dollars into the county K9 fund. Asked about balance, the chair read the K9 fund at "$1,002.30 and 33¢" and discussed adding $5 to cover rounding and interest. After questions and clarifications the board voted on a motion to publish the notice of a public hearing and to schedule that hearing for Aug. 24; the motion, moved by Isaac and seconded by Travis, carried 4–0 with one absence.
