Cemetery Board: storm damage cleaned up, officials say referendum needed to change burial-park tax revenue

Robin Walton, representing the Cemetery Board, told the Village Board that storm damage at the cemetery office had been cleaned up and that grounds-keeping will continue with Troy returning to work. Walton reported 27 burials and 12 plots purchased in the past fiscal year and said year-to-date revenue totaled $47,926.47 against expenses of $44,356.51.
Attorney Tom Green told trustees that changing the Burial Park tax revenue would require a referendum because the levy has not been adjusted in 75 years; he added that promotional materials and fact sheets must be posted and that his office will verify requirements to be ready for the ballot process. "It will require a referendum to be on the ballot to adjust tax revenue income for the Burial Park; this has not been adjusted in 75 years," Green said.
