Plan commission proposes 15–20 member steering committee including business and nonprofit partners

Administrator Renee presented a draft steering-committee roster that would include the full plan commission plus outside stakeholders from the business, school and nonprofit sectors. She cited potential members by role and name — including representatives from GCDC (Olivia), the schools (Kara Harper, Nikki Austin), Main Street and tourism (Jordan, Noreen), Greene County board member Jerry Guth, the chamber (Marcy), Family Promise (Rick Gleason) and a Latino-community representative (Susan Ortega).
"We have a current list that we drafted, for the steering committee that includes you as the current commission with the new appointment of Dave," Renee said, adding the group size was intended to be large enough for representation but not so large as to be unwieldy. She asked commissioners for additional suggestions and said Southwest Regional would assist by contacting invitees and coordinating the schedule.
Renee said staff aimed to balance representation among municipal officials, school and economic-development leaders, nonprofit providers and business stakeholders. The proposal called for regular plan-commission meetings to serve as the forum for steering-committee input while the steering body would also meet as needed for targeted outreach and review.
