The Marion Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the 2025–26 annual budget and adopted a property tax rate of $1.1199 at its Aug. 20, 2025 regular meeting.
Board member Caleb Rackley moved to approve the 2025–26 budget as presented; the motion was seconded by Ryan Schwab and passed 6–0. Later in the meeting the board adopted a total tax rate of $1.1199, which the minutes record as "effectively a 13.54% increase in the tax rate," with the maintenance and operations (M&O) rate set at $0.7412 and interest and sinking (I&S) at $0.3787. Karl Harborth moved the tax-rate motion; Jamie Mote seconded it. Bubba Kunde was absent for the vote.
The budget adoption followed a public hearing during which the proposed figures were presented. Erin Fasel presented the proposed budget and tax rate for the district. The board also approved budget amendments earlier in the meeting that the minutes record as "as presented;" that motion was moved by Karl Harborth and seconded by Jill LeSage and passed 6–0.
The board's actions are recorded as formal motions in the Aug. 20 minutes. The district will publish the tax-rate information as required by state law and post any budget documents in accordance with Marion ISD procedures.
