Clark County commissioners approve 1.00‑mill, five‑year renewal to fund local health district

The Board of Clark County Commissioners voted unanimously Aug. 3 to adopt Resolution 2026-0611, authorizing a renewal tax levy of 1.00 mill for the Clark County Combined Health District.
The resolution, adopted on the recommendation of the Board of Health, says the levy would be for a five‑year period (2027–2031) and notes that a rate of 1.00 mill amounts to approximately $35 per $100,000 of the county auditor’s market value. "The question of such tax renewal levy shall be submitted to the electors of the Clark County Combined Health District at the General Election to be held on November 3, 2026," the resolution states.
Commissioner Greg R. Kaffenbarger moved for passage; Commissioner Sasha L. Rittenhouse seconded. The roll call vote recorded: Commissioner Kaffenbarger, Yes; Commissioner Rittenhouse, Yes. The resolution directs the clerk to certify the measure to the Board of Elections as required by state law.
The item follows a certification of estimated property tax revenue submitted for the proposed levy. County legal counsel Beau Thompson told the board the prosecutor’s office representative, Kadawni Scott, had reviewed the resolutions on behalf of both the health district and the auditor’s office.
If voters approve the renewal, the levy will be placed on the 2027 tax lists and duplicates and collected for the five‑year period specified in the resolution.
