Sheriff honors vet clinic, Pilot Club and late volunteer with Community Impact Awards

Sheriff Chris Clark used the July 29 commission meeting to present Community Impact Awards recognizing local partners who support county public-safety and youth programs.
Sheriff Clark praised Northside Veterinary Clinic’s work with the Sheriff’s Office K9s, saying their “professionalism, compassion, and commitment to the health of the canine partners ensure that the dogs receive the best care possible.” Dr. Dana King and staff accepted the award. The Sheriff also presented an award to the Springfield Pilot Club for sustained financial support of D.A.R.E., and Pilot Club representative Sharon Slusher described the club’s 84-year history of community service.
The Sheriff’s final award was presented posthumously to Robert “Dr. Bob” Weisenberger, recognized for more than 15 years volunteering with Safety Village teaching children safe interactions with animals; his wife, Edith Weisenberger, accepted the honor. Sheriff Clark concluded by thanking community partners for their contributions to county public safety and youth programming.
