Commissioner Charles A. Patterson told the board about an announcement that Electra will establish an aircraft manufacturing operation in Springfield and Clark County, saying the project promises significant job creation aligned with the county’s strategic plan.
Commissioner Sasha L. Rittenhouse praised the county’s partners and called the project a local economic opportunity, saying it identified an underutilized area and "This will be a huge transformational opportunity for the county." Commissioner Patterson said the company will create supply‑chain opportunities at the airport because Electra will not make all parts in‑house and noted rezoning discussions in the city to enable expansion.
Commissioner Greg R. Kaffenbarger thanked planning and economic development staff for their work, and county staff said the announcement could spur retail and other investments in western Clark County. No formal zoning or fiscal action was taken during the meeting; commissioners discussed next steps and coordination with city partners.
