Trustees keep 'Coffee with the Board' but require sign‑ups for fall; plan to revisit code for large events

Trustees and residents traded views about the value and frequency of "Coffee with the Board" during the Aug. 10 meeting. Some residents and former trustees described the program as a valuable informal access point; some trustees said summer attendance problems and scheduling conflicts made monthly meetings hard to staff.
Trustees discussed pilot sign-up and assignment models and whether the village manager or staff could serve as a fallback when trustees do not sign up. President said he would email trustees and ask two trustees to sign up for each Coffee with the Board session for September through December and that any sessions not filled by Aug. 14 would be canceled. "I'm requesting 2 trustees attend each meeting... whichever meetings are not filled will be canceled," he said. Several trustees urged more positive resident engagement at the sessions and proposed rotating locations to feature village facilities.
Separately, trustees agreed to direct staff to review and propose revisions to the special-event permit code and application process to make requirements clearer for large events after a contentious permit appeal earlier in the meeting.
