Several trustees said they supported the project because it was budgeted and expressed interest in keeping the final construction cost near the $6,000,000 budget figure assumed in planning materials. Trustee Cordova noted the amount is budgeted and that financing assumptions in the capital plan include a 3.75 percent interest estimate over 20 years for a $6,000,000 project. Trustees asked staff for regular updates as design work returns greater detail to the board.
The roll-call vote approved the professional-services agreement on second reading. Trustees also requested continued outreach for grant opportunities and to monitor final construction estimates before moving to contract awards.
