Ludlow reports 21.9 million gallons from springs in July; hiring of operator nearing decision

The Village of Ludlow Water Commission heard a monthly operations report on Aug. 4 that showed the springs produced 21.9 million gallons of water in July while the town used 5.8 million gallons.
"The springs produced a total of 21.9 million gallons of water this July and the town used 5.8 million," Lisha Klaiber read from the department's July report. The report also noted average daily production of about 707,000 gallons and average daily town use of roughly 187,000 gallons, compared with last July's figures (production 19.8 million gallons; use 6.4 million). Combined storage in the Godfrey and Strongs tanks is about one million gallons, the report said.
Staff told commissioners there were no water hook-ons or leaks for the month, and routine flushing of the backup well and the Deeplawn Court Extension blow-off continues weekly. The report added that the department has narrowed operator candidates to two and hopes to have someone on board within the next few weeks. The commission did not take formal action on hiring at the meeting.
