The City Council voted to approve a 15% contingent-fee contract with Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins & Mott, LLP for collection of delinquent property taxes under Section 6.30 of the Texas Property Tax Code; the contract notice was posted under Texas Government Code Section 2254. The motion to approve the contingent-fee contract carried 5–0 with two members absent.
Ron Capehart, the city’s delinquent-tax attorney, addressed the council about services provided by the existing collections firm and said staff would return with the numbers needed to present termination terms. Council did not finalize termination paperwork at this meeting and indicated the item will be revisited once financial comparisons are available.
