The Levelland City Council on Aug. 4 approved an interlocal agreement with the South Plains Association of Governments (SPAG) to formalize participation in regional 911 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) services.
Staff explained SPAG is a regional planning commission and political subdivision that provides member cities with regional 911 services including address assignment, training, public education and planning. SPAG's Strategic Plan for regional 911 has been approved by the Commission on State Emergency Communications; the interlocal requires annual agreements with member cities and specifies that the city shall operate and maintain 911 services at the communications center 24 hours per day, seven days per week, and meet technical requirements set by the Commission.
Council approved the interlocal by motion of Jaime McCabe, seconded by Bill Powell; the motion carried unanimously.
