State's Attorney Kummer updated the board on the Richland County Historical Society, saying the organization is a nonprofit and the county holds no ownership or interest in the societys building. Kummer told commissioners the county is barred from giving the society funding under the Constitutions anti-gift provisions.
Commissioners discussed potential ways to assist the society without violating constitutional restrictions and agreed that two commissioners would attend the Historical Societys next meeting to help find a solution. No county funding was approved at the meeting.
