Robertson County commissioners voted to increase pay for two animal-control staff after the budget committee presented a targeted adjustment to address low hourly rates.
Bobby Cast, presenting the resolution, said the pay correction responds to the duties the officers perform and that the change would cost approximately $54,019. "It's gonna cost a total of $54,019, but it gets both of them up where they feel like they got living wage," the presenter said. The commission moved to suspend rules to make the change effective immediately and later approved the resolution on second reading.
Several commissioners praised animal-control staff and noted the difficulty of the work; the motion passed with the chair announcing the recorded tally reported during the meeting as 13–4–0.
