Lindale delays annexation public hearing after notice showed wrong address

The Lindale City Council on Feb. 3 approved Resolution R04-2026 to reschedule a public hearing on the voluntary annexation of property at 13765 CR 463 after the finance director said the originally published notice contained an incorrect address. The hearing was set for Feb. 17, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., which the council noted will delay the annexation process by about two weeks.
Finance Director Jill Childs told the council the incorrect address appeared in the notice published in the local newspaper and on the city's website. Councilmember Bob Tardiff made the motion to approve R04-2026, which Jerretta Nance Pate seconded; the minutes state that "all voted in favor." The annexation request was attributed to property owners Lloyd Rasmussen and William Bates. The council also discussed and approved a separate resolution allowing Hanks Towing to conditionally apply for placement on the city's towing rotation prior to formal annexation due to the notice error.
