Joyce Saret summarized Mental Health Awareness Month events and services and said HRS offered support and services around a recent event. Ms. Linda Oliver Grape asked whether the Town and schools had follow-up supports available after recent tragedies; Saret replied that HRS provided services and that school social workers are connected to the Wellesley Health Department over the summer even when not on site.
Dr. Marcia Testa Simonson said the mission of school-based mental-health providers differs from educational administrators and stressed the importance of continuity of care through summer months. The board noted the availability of HRS and school social workers as part of the town’s ongoing mental-health supports.
