Wellesley health officials report 7,000–9,000 campers expected, routine inspections ongoing

Lenny Izzo, director of the Wellesley Health Department, told the Board of Health that the town expects between 7,000 and 9,000 campers this summer and that routine policy reviews and inspections are underway. He said there have been no major issues but that a few new camps are receiving extra support from staff as is normal for Wellesley.
Izzo described the department’s process for medical incidents at camps: the Health Department receives injury reports for treatable injuries — for example fractures or allergic reactions — and follows up with camps to review procedures. Nurse Supervisor Ann Marie McCauley reiterated that nurses are busy with camp policies and inspections during the summer season.
