Mayor Breann Buxkemper opens meeting; council approves minutes, pins new police sergeant

The Levelland City Council convened at 6 p.m. July 7 in the R. O. Dennis Council Chambers. Mayor Breann Buxkemper called the meeting to order, led the Pledge of Allegiance and Mayor Pro Tem Michael Stueart offered the invocation. The council recognized Sgt. Blake Parker of the Levelland Police Department for a recent promotion in a badge-pinning ceremony.
Council addressed routine business early in the meeting. "To approve the minutes of June 16, 2025, regular meeting, June 16, 2025, special meeting and the July 1, 2025, special meeting," Michael Stueart moved; Bill Powell seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The approval covered the two June minutes and the July 1 special meeting minutes.
The meeting proceeded to scheduled agenda items following the ceremonial recognition. No members of the public spoke during the statements-by-citizens portion of the meeting.
