Germantown adopts ordinance letting permit fees for telecom be set by resolution

On Dec. 8 the board adopted Ordinance 2025-9, removing the construction-cost-based permit fee for telecommunications installations and allowing the city to set applicable permit fees by resolution to align the code with the city's revenue resolution.
Director Allen presented Ordinance 2025-9 on final reading, saying a recent review found a conflict between the municipal code's construction-cost percentage fee and the city's adopted revenue resolution that sets permit fees by base amount plus linear-foot charges.
"The proposed amendment eliminates the construction cost based fee calculation and instead authorizes the applicable permit fees to be set by resolution as a part of the city's comprehensive resolution on revenues," Director Allen said, explaining the change resolves the conflict and allows fees to be updated by resolution when necessary.
The board then moved and seconded approval of Ordinance 2025-9 on third and final reading. The clerk called the roll and the ordinance was adopted; the mayor announced it "has been changed and adopted and will go into effect."
