The Germantown Planning Commission voted to adopt the Germantown Forward 2035 strategic plan after a presentation from Director Cameron Ross outlining the plan’s vision, strategic objectives and next steps. Commissioners carried the motion by roll call; the plan will guide comprehensive‑planning and development review work in the coming years.
Ross summarized priorities including economic development, land‑use and transportation, and neighborhood maintenance. He told the commission the city has roughly 12,500 acres and “roughly 2.4%,” under 300 acres, of vacant land — a constraint that shapes redevelopment strategy. "The vision is the same: we look for a vibrant, welcoming community of choice with outstanding quality of life for everyone," Ross said.
The action plan includes completing a comprehensive plan and considering a consultant contract for that update; staff said the board of mayor and aldermen is expected to consider a consultant contract at its second January meeting. The commission approved the strategic plan by roll call and the plan will be integrated into upcoming staff reports and project reviews.
