Littlefield schedules May 12 hearings for two potentially dangerous buildings on E. 7th Street

Code Enforcement Officer Marshall King told the council two properties on E. 7th Street (715 E. 7th St., Property ID 20223; 721 E. 7th St., Property ID 20224) are delinquent on taxes and that nobody from the properties responded to notices. King asked the council to set public hearings to determine whether the structures should be declared dangerous and ordered repaired, vacated, or demolished; the council passed Resolutions 2026-0428-1 and 2026-0428-2 to set hearings for May 12.
Mayor Eric Turpen moved to approve the resolutions and Council Member Jason Ayala seconded. The motions passed with 4 ayes and 1 absent. No decisions on repair or demolition were made at the April 28 meeting; the scheduled hearings on May 12 will provide a forum for property owners and the public to present evidence and for the council to consider formal action.
