The Littlefield City Council voted 5-0 on May 12 to authorize staff to submit an application for the HB 500 water-supply and infrastructure grant, targeting the maximum allowable $10 million to support new wells and related infrastructure. City Manager Ray Resendez introduced the grant opportunity and explained the application process.
Utility Director Josh Villarreal briefed council members on current well status and drilling/maintenance challenges and stressed the importance of securing additional water rights. Mayor Eric Turpen moved to approve Resolution 2026-0512-4 authorizing application for HB 500; Council Member Eric Saenz seconded and the motion passed with five ayes.
