The Littlefield City Council on May 12 approved two orders to condemn and demolish substandard structures at 715 E. 7th St. (Block 50, Lot 10; R-20223) and 721 E. 7th St. (Block 50, Lot 11-12; R-20224). Mayor Eric Turpen opened a public hearing on the two properties; no one from the public spoke. City Manager Ray Resendez summarized attempts to contact the property owners and reported no response.
Mayor Turpen said the city should file liens on the properties so the municipality could recover costs associated with removing structures and bringing parcels up to code. Turpen moved to approve Orders 2026-0512-1 and 2026-0512-2; Buddy Holmes seconded and the motion passed with five ayes.
