The City of Monroe Common Council selected Tom Miller as council president following nominations and a secret-ballot vote. After nominations for Richard Toman and Tom Miller, ballots were distributed, collected and tallied. A council member reported, "So that that would be 4 votes for Alderman Miller and 3 for Alderman," and the chair announced Alderman Miller would serve as president.
Following the announcement, the newly selected council president thanked colleagues for their support and encouraged cooperation going forward. The council then proceeded to regular business, including committee appointment confirmations and a legal training session.
