C4 members press Region 1 ACT and ODOT for more staffing after repeated gaps

Co‑chair Paul Savas and other members reported persistent staffing shortfalls at the Region 1 ACT that have made it difficult to get ODOT presenters and run agendas. "For over a year, actually, we've been the r 1 act has been struggling, from a staffing standpoint," Savas said, describing meetings where intended presenters were not available and county staff helped fill the gap.
Members described a temporary workaround — sharing staff assistance from neighboring counties to prepare meetings — but said that model is not sustainable. Savas said the group is considering drafting a letter, signed by willing ACT members, to the Region 1 director and the Oregon Transportation Commission to draw attention to the issue and request staffing commitments.
Why it matters: As the largest ACT in population in the state, members said Clackamas County needs steady ODOT staffing to move projects and work plans forward. The group asked staff to pursue formal outreach to ODOT leadership.
