Parks staff: Solomons playground is owned by buildings and grounds, not Parks & Recreation

“We don't actually own that playground. That belongs to buildings and grounds,” Amanda Stilwagen said, adding that Parks and Recreation inspects the equipment and helps when possible but would not lead a replacement project that is owned by buildings and grounds. Staff agreed to pass along the commissioners’ recommendation to deputy director Jones and to coordinate with buildings and grounds on a path forward.
The exchange clarified who is responsible for replacement funding and set an expectation that staff will follow up with the appropriate department; commissioners suggested transferring responsibility to Parks and Recreation if feasible.
