Staff updated the board on the Paulsbo Pollinator Program (P3), describing a finalized plant list (mostly native species), baseline pricing and an educational component involving Hilda Pearson Elementary students and their leadership program.
Committee members identified priority sites for fall plantings: the American Legion corridor, Iverson Williams Park, Fish Park (near the estuary into Nelson Park) and areas near City Hall and Oster Brewing where established pollinator and learning-garden efforts already exist. The board noted one-time funds (the tree board earmarked $1,000) can support shrubs and pollinator plantings, with larger plantings targeted through grants and partnerships.
Staff said the program will emphasize visible, educational installations and some plantings that are less visible but have higher ecological value, and that the site committee is narrowing priorities for the fall season.
